Weddings at Wilderness Reserve | Exclusive-Use Venue in Suffolk

Weddings at Wilderness Reserve

As one of the most unique wedding venues in Suffolk, we host just a handful of weddings a year. This lets us work closer with you or your team to create the most memorable wedding, one that reflects your vision and personality. The whole estate is available as an exclusive-use wedding venue, with all its beautiful buildings and sweeping landscapes, so the potential is infinite. And, without any of the restrictions and compromises that come with a hotel, you have the freedom to create your own distinctive countryside wedding.

We are known for our luxury rural wedding aesthetic, pairing the highest standard of hospitality with truly creative vision. Being able to bring all your family and friends together across 5000 acres makes us one of the most sought after wedding venues in Suffolk. We have held the most grand of celebrations – for example, our Fire Feast caters up to 200 people and sees locally sourced fish, meat, and organic vegetables cooked in blazing central fire – but also more intimate weddings.

There is nothing better than waking up on your wedding day and feeling like you’re at home. Taking an exclusive use wedding venue means you can take a house for the bride’s family and a house for the groom’s and start your morning with a cup of tea in bed from your nearest and dearest. With bridesmaids just next door, it’s easy to turn living rooms and dining areas into DIY hair salons and make up stations. For the groom? Take the Walled Garden and make Saturday morning about that last round of snooker and a cheeky tipple from the liquor cabinet.

For those seeking an authentic countryside wedding near London, we have options for both a quintessential Manor House wedding in our iconic Sibton Park Estate or a luxury barn wedding in our Chapel Barn Estate. Both bring an added charm to the classic Suffolk wedding venue.

“Paradise has been found - and happily, it’s not a million miles away. Rather it’s in a sweet corner of the Suffolk countryside, at Wilderness. While the house itself is full of decadent details for your reception, its the grounds that are knockout"

CEREMONY

For those wishing to get married on the estate, the only real limit is your imagination. We have had giant greenhouses erected that seat hundreds of guests to ghost chairs lined up either side of petal strewn paths. There are plenty of indoor options too, the drawing room at Sibton Park is licensed for wedding and civil ceromonies for parties of up to 100 guests or receptions can also take place in our marquee or the Orangery, a purpose-built space adjoining the manor.

There are plenty of local options for those seeking something a little more traditional, the baroque church of St. Peter’s next door brings a touch of old Suffolk charm. Whether you choose to be married in a church, in Sibton Park, or deep within the woodland in a farflung corner of the estate, Wilderness Reserve is a magical place to exchange your vows.

RECEPTION & AFTER PARTY

PHOTOGRAPHS AND BREAKFASTS

With vows done and dusted, the cheers and applause of your family and friends thundering behind you, attention turns to your reception. Boasting 5000 acres of wildflower and ancient oaks, there are a countless number of spots to mark the start of this new exciting chapter so what could be more apt than to take the party outside for your photographs. For something more intimate, let your guests mill about Sibton Park’s terrace, greeted by our team to a welcome glass of champagne, while you and your partner take to one of the many drawing rooms for an intimate portrait.

With run of the estate, you can choose to hold your wedding breakfast in one of our properties or something custom built to your vision. We have seen outdoor picnic tables erected that seat hundreds to intimate 12 course tasting menus held in our quintessential English manor dining room. Our Orangery can seat up to 140 whilst stretch tents or marquees can be erected alongside for bigger parties. The Orangery’s feature piece is a foliage inspired lighting fixture, it brings a touch of Wilderness Reserve’s outdoor magic inside. Wilderness Reserve is happy to provide a list of recommended suppliers who have worked with our previous guests in curating their dream weddings. Please enquire.

DRINKS AND DANCING

The Estate Kitchen is Wilderness Reserve’s secret weapon. Our in-house chefs have trained in some of the country’s most regarded hotels and restaurants, and locally sourced ingredients the team are on hand to create or curate a menu to suit your vision. Whether you’re looking for a buffet style menu or elegant morsels of delicately flavoured goodness – we can vouch for the lamb croquettes – the Estate Kitchen is an ideal partner for your wedding breakfast.

Once toasts are done and everyone has full stomachs and fuller hearts, your wedding space is transformed into the dance floor of your dreams. As the night draws to a close, wave off your guests with a selection of snacks from the kitchen as their midnight carriages whisk them away. Or for those late night animals, keep the the drinks flowing and prolong the party by descending the stairs to the Sibton Park’s cellar where dancing and merriment can continue until sunrise.

GUEST ACCOMMODATION

Wilderness Reserve is not a dedicated wedding venue, we spend the majority of our days servicing our guests as a collection of luxury holiday cottages. This is why we’re pros at accommodating you and your party for the weekend. All our properties have ensuite bedrooms, with Hypnos beds and deep roll top baths, and fully equipped kitchens, not just pots, pans, and cutlery but also fully stocked Nespresso machines. Each property is uniquely styled and tastefully decorated, our interiors are always homely with embroidered cushions on deep velvet armchairs in every corner.

Favourites include Clockhouse or The Cartshed, both sleeping up to 8, and features open plan kitchen, living, and dining spaces. Our infamous pink Farmhouse is one of our oldest properties on the estate and is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the out. Garden Cottage contains a bunk room with doll’s house cupboard (always greeted with glee) along with a glass covered well in the centre of it’s bright light filled kitchen. There is the Barn, The Grange, and The Cider House, all decked out in floor to ceiling windows making them some of the brightest properties at Wilderness Reserve. Moat Cottage, with it’s namesake moat and bridge, is another pink masterpiece with it’s thatched roof and private outdoor hot tub.

Mini Moons

With guests waved away and party planners getting a much deserved rest, it’s time for the couple to be whisked away on their minimoon. Long gone are the days of couples going straight from afterparty to airport, with the culmination of months or even years of planning, a mini-moon is the ideal way to wind down from an epic weekend. Wilderness Reserve is home to several of these bucolic boltholes, ideal for couples to celebrate their new lives together in peaceful tranquility.

For those who want the most private of homes, there is the electricity-free Hex Cottage with its fairytale like exterior and a lavender meadow for a back garden. All heated through an Esse wood-burning range, the open fires in the sitting room and bedroom make for the most romantic welcome into wedded bliss. Those seeking a bit more home comfort, there is The Tabernacle and The Hovel. The Tabernacle has a sunken hot tub on your own island, accessed only through a private bridge. The Hovel, looking like it has grown from the ground, has it’s own hot tub and is set in a far flung corner of the estate, ideal for those wishing to feel completely at one with nature.
